Walrus

The walrus carries two long tusks, which it uses to haul itself onto the ice and to dig in the mud for clams. Its many whiskers feel for prey on the dark seafloor. A thick layer of blubber keeps it warm in the icy water.

The tusks of the walrus are elongated canine teeth and serve as tool, weapon, and badge of rank (hence the name Odobenus, tooth-walker). Its very sensitive whiskers feel for clams in the dark, which it then pulls from the shell by powerful suction. Its skin can flush reddish to help regulate heat.
