The blue shark is deep blue on top and white below, so it is hard to see from above and below. With its very long, slim fins it glides economically through the open ocean and makes huge migrations across whole seas.

The blue shark (Prionace glauca) is camouflaged by counter-shading and uses its long pectoral fins to glide economically in the open sea. It migrates with the currents across whole ocean basins, sometimes over 9000 km. Females can store sperm for months; a litter often numbers over 30 young.
