Octopus

The octopus has eight arms and is remarkably clever. It can change color in a flash to camouflage itself and can squeeze through tiny gaps because it has no bones.

For scientists

The octopus carries most of its nerve cells in its arms, which can taste and grip partly on their own, almost like eight little brains. Its skin shifts color and pattern in a fraction of a second using pigment cells (chromatophores), even though the animal itself is colorblind. Its blood is blue because it binds oxygen with copper instead of iron, which works better in cold deep water.
